At first, this town house’s social area was presented as very open, with a connection to the terrace and patio, The upper level also had a wide family room, which works as a relief from two secondary rooms, and the main room. Since the pre-existing area had well-defined spaces with a lot of potential, the idea was to highlight and modify only what could help them get a further definition. Therefore, the choice was to integrate the kitchen even more towards the dining room in the social areas, as well as define spaces with the work done on the ceiling and walls. The initial concept was to compose places within a place with textures and colors working hand in hand, and using wood as the unifying finish throughout the house, bringing up warm spaces. In the main room, the built-in bathroom took an important role, showing an amplified idea of clarity by replacing brick walls by glass, to create a “lamp” effect within the room. During the construction process, we came across the possibility to generate an attic level, which turned out to be big enough to place a guest room, a storage room, and a game area for the children. This attic has a very appropriate access from the family TV room.
